The mosaic was brought to light during the excavation work carried out from 2005 to 2007. It is part of a broader Roman domus, divided in several halls mainly characterised by mosaic floorings with black and white, polychrome, geometic, and figured patterns.
The flooring visible in Piazza Garibaldi boasts a mosaic characterised by star-shaped tiles, surrounded by a pattern of squares that borders hexagones, rose-shaped ribbons, and Salomon’s knots. On the external borders, the mosaic is characterised by triangles and pyramids. Finally, all the animals depicted are exotic.
