The construction of the defensive tower is divided in two stages: the first one was during the 12th century; the second one dates back to the mid-15th century, thanks to Francesco Sforza.
Fourteen defensive irregular polygonal shaped towers were settled around the walls. Nowadays there are five left, four of which are privately owned.
