The construction dates back to the end of the 13th century.

The interior and the facade were presumably made in the first half of the 19th century. In the 14th century, Diotallevi di Angeluccio painted some frescoes inside.

In 1589, the Municipality of Santa Anatolia commissioned the construction of an organ.

From the 16th century, the church was under the patronage of the Dialti family of Santa Anatolia, who had the main altar built in the 17th century.

With the post‐earthquake works in 1997 and subsequently with seismic improvement interventions following the 2016 Central Italy earthquake, the structure was consolidated and restored.
