Colleluce Castle

Colleluce Castle

Loc. Colleluce, San Severino Marche

-CAN BE ONLY VISITED EXTERNALLY-

The strategic role of the Colleluce Castle is due to its position between the valleys of Potenza and Chienti.

The ancient settlement was built with a double wall and watchtower.

In 1240 Emperor Federico II, fighting against the papacy, devastated and burned the castle down. Once rebuilt, it was then almost completely destroyed by the army of the king of Naples.
