Aliforni Castle

Aliforni Castle

Loc. Aliforni, San Severino Marche

Starting from San Severino Marche in the direction of Cingoli, you arrive at the hamlet of Aliforni, where stands the homonymous castle dating back most likely to the 12th century.

It was annexed to the municipality of San Severino Marche in 1257 by deed of sale by Guglielmo, bishop of Camerino.

During the 15th century it was subject to numerous war attacks, by Smeduccio Smeducci and the Rector of the Marca.

Near the castle is the Church of Santa Maria Annunziata (13th century), enlarged by Ireneo Aleandri in the 19th century.
